Chamber donates to Caboose Committee for next renovation stage

Hermann Chamber of Commerce President Mary Brennell hands Caboose Committee Co-chairman Gary Leabman a donation to pay for new flooring in the City of Hermann’s Caboose, located near the train station.

The Hermann Chamber of Commerce donated $500 to the Caboose Committee to pay for new flooring in the ongoing effort to establish the City of Hermann Caboose Museum. The museum will tell the story of the railroads coming to the Missouri River Valley, including the first passenger train to Hermann on August 6, 1855.

Although the Missouri Humanities Council has granted $6658 for museum displays, signage and  a dedication celebration next July 4, additional local funding is needed to complete the renovation. Electricity for holiday lighting is the next project needing funding.

Chamber President Mary Brennell says she is pleased to be a part of the renovation and adds the Caboose Museum will soon be an important educational experience in Hermann.
