City park facilities shut down

All city of Hermann park facilities have been ordered closed for April, according to a statement released to the Advertiser-Courier on Monday afternoon by Mayor Bob Koerber.

However, parks will remain open for people to walk, jog, exercise, and engage in other activities that can be done individually, without violating guidelines from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and all other governmental guidelines.

The city's campground, and all basketball courts, tennis courts, pavilions, playgrounds, baseball, soccer, and football fields fall under the order, due to the coronavirus outbreak. All other locations within Hermann's parks system, and other city property the city determines is being used for the congregation of people in close proximity to one another, shall be closed until April 30, Koerber said.

"The city implores parents to restrict the activities of their children to ensure their compliance with this notice," the statement added. "The city regrets these actions, but has determined that such are necessary to promote the health and safety of the citizens of Hermann and its visitors."
