Columbia Handbell Ensemble returns Dec. 14

Golden handbells on table with sheet of notes

Holiday magic is what the Columbia Handbell Ensemble will bring to Hermann for their 14th annual holiday concert at St. George Catholic Church on Saturday, Dec. 14 at 7:30 p.m.

The Columbia Handbell Ensemble is an auditioned community group that is heading into its fourth decade of promoting musical handbell excellence. The ensemble started with the hope of raising the standards of handbell performance while introducing handbells to those who had never experienced the beauty and infectious joy of the instrument. Since then, the ensemble has garnered national recognition and have collaborated locally in Central-Mo. with such celebrated groups as the Odyssey Chamber Music Series, the Columbia Chorale, Bella Cantu of the Columbia Youth Choirs, the University of Mo. Concert Series and the Missouri Symphony.

On the program this year are such holiday favorites as Pat-a-pan, Gesu Bambino, Trepak (from the Nutcracker) and Irving Berlin's White Christmas. The concert is free and open to the public and is sponsored by the Hermann Arts Council and Peoples Savings Bank.
