Hermann can't wrestle a win from Lady Wildcats
The Hermann Lady Bearcats varsity engaged in something of a wrestling match with the Montgomery County Lady Wildcats on Thursday, Jan. 7, losing a road contest 48-39.
The girls spent much of the game fighting it out with their opponent for control of the game. There was much spirited action going after loose basketballs on the court.
Grace Winkelmann was in charge with 11 points, hitting four of 14 field-goal attempts and nailing two out of seven free throws. Hannah Grosse chipped in with eight points on eight-for-eight perfection from the charity stripe. Maya Wideman had five points, making a field goal and three of six free throws.
The Moeckli twins, Chelsey and Cydney, seemed to get the brunt of elbow action from the Wildcats but jumped right into the fight with vigor. During the third quarter there seemed to be more Bearcat bodies on the floor then sneakers. It must be assumed there were sore body parts and bruises after this rowdy game.
Winkelmann busted up the lanes for nine rebounds and had two steals. Malerie Schutt banged the boards for four rebounds and had a steal. Kaylyn Powers, Cydney Moeckli and Holly Heldt also had a steal apiece.
