The Hermann FFA Chapter placed third in the floriculture career development event at the 90th Missouri FFA Convention. There were 60 teams in the competition.

Team members include Michaell Vedder, Madison Coleman, Elly Kreuger and Emma Scheible. Individually, Vedder placed 10th, Coleman placed 12th, Kreuger placed 14th and Scheible placed 51st out of 235 participants. The Hermann FFA advisors are Doug Ridder and Tracy Vedder.

Students were asked to identify plants and were faced with decisions involving day-to-day problems that occur in the floral industry. Plant care and diagnosis, floral arranging, and sales and product knowledge were tested in the event.

Sponsored by University of Missouri, Columbia, College of Agriculture, Food and Natural Resources, this contest is one way FFA prepares student members for career success. CDEs engage students in learning and make real connections to lifetime goals.
