A 32-year-old Hermann man was killed Sunday night in a crash that occurred in the Swiss area.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol identified the victim as Wyatt T. Puckett, the driver of the lone vehicle involved in the accident. A passenger, 28-year-old Luis G. Ramirez of Jefferson City, was seriously injured and taken to Mercy Hospital in Washington. Three unidentified juveniles -- ages 7, 10, and 13 -- each had moderate injuries. The seven-year-old, a female, was taken to Children's Mercy Hospital in St. Louis. The two other juveniles, both males, were taken to Mercy in Washington.
The patrol's report said the accident happened at 8 p.m., on Kattlemann Road, 1.8 miles west of Missouri Route E, near Swiss.
The accident happened when the eastbound 1994 GMC Suburban entered a right-hand turn and began skidding. The sport-utility vehicle then ran off the right side of the road, striking a tree, according to the patrol.
The patrol also reported an accident that happened at 7:09 a.m. Saturday on Old Highway 100 in Franklin County. A 22-year-old Hermann woman, Gwen M. Goskie, was seriously hurt and taken to Mercy in Washington.
The report stated Goskie failed to negotiate a curve while driving a 2014 Chevrolet Malibu westbound on the highway. The car then drove off the right side of the road, struck an embankment with its front, and overturned, the patrol said.
