The following statement was released Thursday:
As the Covid-19 pandemic continues to evolve unpredictably, we are deeply saddened to announce that the 2020 Hermann Wine and Jazz Festival will be postponed until next summer.
"Together with many of our nation's leaders, we have concluded at this time we risk too much in carrying out an event of our size. While we are devastated, we also share a sense of responsibility to contain Covid-19," said Public Relations & Marketing Director Dawn DeBlaze. "Missouri's latin motto is: 'Let the welfare of the people be the supreme law.'"
Numerous considerations were weighed in this difficult decision. The safety of our community, our staff, and our musicians were our top priority. Not to mention, the uncertainty of ongoing travel. Ultimately, the decision to focus on everyone's safety was a simple one.
The impact of postponing will be deeply felt by musicians, businesses, and concertgoers throughout the community, as the festival relies on annual grants and sponsors to carry out its work.
Created in 2015, the HWJF is Missouri's only getaway weekend wine and jazz festival LIVE from the Vineyards! Hermann Wine & Jazz has been home to award-winning wines, and legendary music performances by Charles Glenn, the Bosman Twins, Funky Butt Brass Band, Dawn Weber, and the Coleman Hughes Project.
“Although we won’t be able to gather in wine country this summer, rest assured we have invited ALL the 2020 announced musicians to join us next year,” says Artistic Director Jason Church.
