At the Gasconade County R-1 School District Board of Education meeting held on April 30, Matthew Mueller was hired as the next middle school principal, replacing Nicole Buschmann.
Buschmann resigned earlier this month after accepting an assistant superintendent position at North Callaway School District.
Mueller comes to Hermann Middle School from Strafford R-VI School District, where he has served as high school social studies teacher and coach. There he also worked as a student sponsor providing mentoring to students. He also served as on the professional development committee, leading professional development and teacher growth plans. He began his teaching career in 2011, in Hermann. During that time was also cross country coach, assistant boys’ basketball coach, and class sponsor.
Mueller received his Specialist in Educational Administration from Southwest Baptist University in 2018. He received his Master's of Arts in Education from Missouri Baptist University. His undergraduate was obtained at Truman State University. He is a member of the Missouri Association of Secondary School Principals.
He is from Springfield, Missouri. His wife, Lauren, is originally from Hermann and currently works as an ICU nurse at Mercy Hospital. They have a son, Calvin, and are expecting a daughter in July.
Gasconade County R-1 Superintendent, Dr. Scott Smith, noted, “We are very excited to have Mr. Mueller return to Hermann," said Gasconade County R-1 Superintendent Dr. Scott Smith. "The middle school interview committee and myself were extremely impressed with Mr. Mueller’s professionalism, dedication to student learning, and previous experience. I am confident in Mr. Mueller’s abilities. He will be a great leader for the middle school.”
