Plans set for

tree contest

The Hermann Area Chamber of Commerce has announced plans for sponsoring the 2020 Christmas Tree Decorating Contest.

According to the chamber, the contest is open to all ages in three divisions: individual children through age 12, children's groups through age 12, and adult--individual or groups.

Miniature trees and lights will be provided free of charge at the chamber office, located at 150 Market St. All trees will go on display Saturday, Dec. 5; and Sunday, Dec. 6, at the chamber. Decorated trees are due to the chamber on Wednesday, Dec. 2.

Prizes will be awarded in each division, as follows: first place, $30; second place, $20; and third place, $10. The prizes will be handed out at 3 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 5, at the chamber.

After the contest display weekend, the trees will be donated to local nursing homes and Hermann Area District Hospital, to be displayed for residents and patients to enjoy throughout the Christmas season. Trees and decorations will not be returned.
