Installation of brick pavers honoring living and deceased veterans of the United States Military was completed just in time for Independence Day at Hermann’s new Veterans Memorial Park on Market Street. Over 400 bricks were installed by Gleeson Landscaping, with the assistance of Veterans Park Committee members to organize and determine layout of the pavers.

Pavers honoring military service installed at Veterans Park

Installation of the bricks is the final step in completion of the Park. However, it is the goal or mission of the Veterans Park Committee to honor as many veterans as possible through the placement of commemorative bricks. The plaza area contains approximately 3,000 pavers, so the opportunity for recognizing those who served or who are serving is virtually limitless.

Brick order forms are available at the Hermann City Office, at the Hermann Visitor Center, and at the banks in Hermann. Interested persons or those with questions about securing pavers can call Dolores Grannemann at 573-486-2870 or Lois Kruse at 573-486-2633.

Plans for dedication of the entire park area between Second and Third Streets are being formulated.
