
MAYOR’S REPORT – DET. SGT. MASON GRIFFITH DAY: Mayor Bruce Cox said that May 3, 2023 was Detective Sergeant Mason Griffith day, in honor of the fallen officer. The date reflected Griffith’s badge number, 503. Cox read a proclamation for Griffith and his family that day.
NATIONAL DAY OF PRAYER: Cox said that he also read a proclamation for the National Day of Prayer at the Hermann Christian Church.
MAIFEST: Maifest is coming up on May 20 and 21. Mayor Cox urged citizens to be careful during the festival.
OFFICER ADAM SULLENTRUP: Cox said that today, May 8, 2023, reflects Officer Sullentrup’s badge number, 508. Chief Marlon Walker said that Sullentrup’s condition is improving and that he is in high spirits. Cox said that he was glad that Walker was able to visit Officer Sullentrup in Colorado.
CITY ADMINISTRATOR’S REPORT – BUDGET: City Administrator Patricia Heaney reported that the draft Fiscal Year 2023-2024 budget is ready. She will have full packets for the budget workshop scheduled for May 15, 2023 at 6:30 p.m. May 8, 2023
LEAD/COPPER FUNDING: The Department of Revenue is offering funding programs in the form of grants or loans to help fund the identification and replacement of lead water pipes. Heaney hopes City Engineer Travis Hernandez will send the City of Hermann’s application out this week. There is a Resolution for this on the agenda for this evening.
CDBG: MRPC’s Bonnie Prigge is advocating for a Community Block Development Grant project for public infrastructure, which can include housing developments.
POLICE CRUISER: The new police cruiser has arrived. STREETS: A pre-construction meeting with contractors will be held on May 10 for upcoming street projects.
RIVERFRONT CLOSURE: The Riverfront Park was closed today and will be again tomorrow due to Union Pacific repairs.

Bill No. 2023-14 was posted on the bulletin board in City Hall on May 4, 2023 at 1:45 p.m. City Attorney Dave Politte explained that this ordinance is the City exercising its power to enact restrictions upon personal use marijuana within City limits. Discussion of the ordinance’s provisions for transportation, smell, and public use followed. PORT AUTHORITY: City Attorney Dave Politte said that the Gilmore & Bell law firm has submitted proposed ordinances and bylaws for Steve Etcher and Montgomery County to review. Politte said that he may need to prepare the intergovernmental agreement for the City. KV 69 LINE: Alderwoman Susan Lenger asked about the status of the KV 69 Line. City Attorney Dave Politte said that there are still property owners who are unwilling to sign the easement.
