The Just Call Me Ray organization recently held their 2nd annual Top It Off To Cancer car cruise fundraiser with a kick-off party at several wineries and distilleries in the Hermann area.
“This event is really about celebrating,” said Raylene Hollrah. “Almost one-half of the women that show up are breast cancer survivors, so it’s a time to take a breath and enjoy the day in a wonderful town that supports our efforts through advocacy all year long.”
The group wore T-shirts, and emblazoned on the back, a slogan read “Cancer is a speed bump, not a road block.”
She said cancer is something many people live with every day, because there aren’t many families that haven’t been touched by someone that hasn’t had the disease.
This month is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Just Call Me Ray focuses on educating individuals about the importance of mammograms and Breast Implant Associated Anaplastic Large Cell Lymphoma (BIA-ALCL), advocating to have textured breast implants removed from the market and helping people rise up through their cancer battles.
