Mitch Hoelmer passed away over the weekend after a long, extended illness. Many will remember the twinkle in his eye, a sign of someone that really enjoyed life, people and his work. He owned and operated the Sharp Corner Tavern, one of Hermann’s iconic businesses in town. Mitch told the Advertiser-Courier back in February that he started flipping burgers in 1976 when they were called “Herbie Burgers,” named after the previous Sharp Corner owner Herb Mueller. He raised a family in the Sharp Corner, being a family-run business and to hear him tell it, he wouldn’t have had it any other way. See Mitch’s obituary on page 5A.
