Elmer “Jr.” Schwartz

Elmer “Jr.” Schwartz, age 83 of Linn, passed away on Wednesday, May 22, 2019, at SSM Health St. Mary’s in Jefferson City.

Elmer was born June 1, 1935, in Hermann, a son to the late Elmer and Alice (Wild) Schwartz. Elmer attended school in Hermann and served his country in the United States Army.

On November 26, 1960, he was united in marriage to Lois Breunig at the Assumption Catholic Church in Morrison. She survives of the home.

Elmer was employed with the Corp of Engineers as a certified welder and later as a Maintenance Superintendent at Milford Lake in Junction City and Clinton Lake in Lawrence, Kansas for 32 years retiring in 1994.

He was a member of the Masonic Lodge in Jefferson City.

Elmer enjoyed hunting, fishing, dancing, cooking, the outdoors, watching Mizzou and Kansas City Royal games and loved being around people sharing a good laugh. He was an excellent craftsman and woodworker.

In addition to his wife of 58 years, Elmer is survived by: five children, Michael Schwartz of Belle, Rebecca Dunavin of Eudora, Kansas, James Schwartz and his wife Angela of Olathe, Kansas, Christine Koelling and her husband Roger of Olathe, Kansas and Lyle Schwartz and his wife Michelle of Shawnee, Kansas; eighteen grandchildren, thirteen great grandchildren; one sister, Betty Catalanello of Durham, CA. along with many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by: one sister, Frances Stone; one brother, Neal Schwartz; a daughter-in-law, Kathy Schwartz; and a son-in-law, Rod Dunavin.

Visitation was Tuesday, May 28, 2019, at Morton Chapel in Linn. Funeral services followed at 12:00 p.m. with Fr. Daniel Merz officiating. Interment with full military honors were held at St. George Parish Cemetery in Linn.
