James Leroy Leimkuehler

James Leroy Leimkuehler passed from his earthly home on November 12th, 2021. Jim was born December 15th, 1947. He was the first-born son of Clarence Theodore Leimkuehler and Mary Bernice Stock Leimkuehler followed by 3 brothers, Jerry, Larry, and Terry. Growing up on a farm near Pershing, Missouri, in the 1950’s presented many opportunities and adventures to prepare him for a good life. The Pershing one room schoolhouse provided his education until high school in Hermann.

Jim continued his education, achieving a Bachelor of Science in Education and Masters Degree in Counseling from Lincoln University. His career in education lasted over 33 years at the Gasconade County R-II School District.

Jim married Juanita Faye Melton at the First Baptist Church in Owensville on December 18th, 1971. They welcomed two daughters, JoEllen Leigh Leimkuehler (Clemons) in 1975, and Clare Marie Leimkuehler (Ruth) in 1977. This union ended suddenly with the passing of Juanita in July of 1991. She was 43 years old.

Jim went on to marry Jane Lynne Niebruegge Berger on September 25th, 1992, at the First Baptist Church of Owensville. This union added Jane and her children, Justin Ross Berger, and Julie Denise Berger (Hines) to the family.

For the remainder of his life, Jim was dedicated to serving God, raising his family, and helping others. The years brought challenges and victories, as well as opportunities. Jim was part of these groups and organizations: First Baptist Church Owensville, Deacon Emeritus of FBC, Gasconade Manor Sunday School teacher, Gasconade County Bible Society, Gideons International, Gasconade County Historical Society, Missouri Retired Teachers, and Gasconade County Republican Central Committee.

Jim called himself a gentleman farmer. He loved scouting deer, hunting, collecting coins, hats, antiques, books and toy tractors. In his youth playing baseball was his priority.

Jim was preceded in death by his wife, Juanita, parents, and brother, Jerry Leimkuehler. He is survived by his wife, Jane Lynne Leimkuehler; two brothers, Larry and Terry Leimkuehler; his children, stepchildren, and grandchildren: Clare and Tony Ruth and their daughters Taylor, Cadance, and Macie; JoEllen and Nathan Clemons and their children Rileigh, Caleb, and Amber; Justin and Karen Berger and their children Gracie, Henry, and Ivy; and Julie Berger Hines and her children, Audrey and William.
