The Hermann varsity volleyball Ladycats won the championship in the Lebanon Varsity Volleyball Tournament this past weekend.

 

Starting out in pool play, the Ladycats lost both sets to Marshfield, but won against Fatima and Jefferson City. In the semi finals, Hermann beat Jefferson City in three sets. The Ladycats won the championship in three sets against Marshfield. Grace Winkelmann, Hannah Grosse, and Chelsey Moeckli were all named to the All-Tournament team.

 

The sets against Marshfield were 26-24, 22-25, and 25-21. Moeckli had 11 points. Winkelmann had 22 kills and eight points.

 

The Ladycats defeated Jefferson City in the semis with sets of 25-15, 22-25, and 25-11. Moeckli had 13 points and Grosse had 11. Winkelmann had 20 kills.

 

On Thursday, Hermann defeated Pacific in three sets (25-15, 25-8, and 25-6). Winkelmann had 16 kills, Moeckli had 18 points, and Heldt had 13 points.

 

The jayvee defeated Pacific in two sets (25-17, 25-11). The freshmen won in a matchup against Pacific in two sets (25-13, 25-15).

 

In previous play, the varsity Ladycats stayed with the competition through to the finale of the Hermann Invitational Tournament, losing out in the finals to St. Francis Borgia.

 

The varsity lost in the championship match to Borgia, 2-0. The sets were 19-25 and 23-25.

 

Holly Heldt had six points. Gracie Winkelmann had 13 kills in 28 attempts.

 

The Ladycats defeated Washington in the semifinals, 2-0. The sets were 25-20 and 25-12.

 

Chelsey Moeckli had 13 points and Heldt had 11. Winkelmann had 14 kills in 31 attempts.

 

In earlier tournament pool play,  Hermann and Borgia tied 1-1. The sets were 28-30 and 25-23. Winkelmann had 17 kills in 27 attempts, while Heldt had nine kills in 18 attempts. Macie Witthaus had 11 points. Also, Hermann defeated Owensville 2-0 (25-5, 25-14). Winkelmann again had 17 kills in 27 attempts. Heldt had 13 points and Hannah Grosse had 12.

 

The Ladycats won 2-0 against Washington (25-17, 25-16). Winkelmann had 14 kills in 27 attempts. Also,  Hermann beat New Haven 2-0 (25-14, 25-13). Winkelmann had 12 kills in 17 attempts. Witthaus had 10 points.
