Rhineland COVID Leaguers Have Big Week

After traveling to Washington on Tuesday and suffering a 9-0 loss the Rhineland AAA got back in the win column Saturday sweeping a double header against Maryland Heights. A good Maryland Heights team came to visit Hermann City Park and Dick Oschner Field. The Rhinelanders got solid pitching from Ethan Towery and Colten Robinson. The bats started to come alive for Rhineland. Chase McKague, Ethan Towery, and Trent Anderson all had big days at the plate. Chase was 6 for 6 on the day with a pair of walks.  Ethan went 4 for 5 and shined in the leadoff spot. Trent hit his 3rd home run of the season. Rhineland came out on top in the first game 7-5. And won the second game 9-8, thanks to a clutch double late in the game by Parker Anderson. Trent Anderson came in to close the door striking out the final Maryland Heights batter. The day brought 2 big wins for Rhineland against a solid opponent.

Monday night the AAA was back on the road heading to Warrenton for a double header. The Rhineland offense jumped all over Warrenton with an 11 run 1st inning in game 1. The bats stayed hot and Rhineland went on to win the first game 22-1. Everyone in the lineup contributed to the assault. Rhineland hit the ball extremely well. Hit, after line drive hit, was the story of game one. In game 2 the onslaught continued. There were many guys who had great nights. Trent Anderson had two triples, a double , and added another home run to his team-leading total of 4. Chase McKague was still swinging a hot bat going 5 for 5 on the night. Other Rhinelanders with big hits included Cason Gray, Ethan Towery, Jon Utley, Jeb Seaver, Colton Robinson, Chase Racherbaumer, Seth Wilkerson, and Carter Hemeyer. Needless to say everyone got in on the fun. After a 5 run 1st inning in game 2 Rhineland went on to win 16-4. Rhineland got solid starting pitching from Trent Anderson in game 1 and Carter Hemeyer in game 2. Trent went the distance in the 3 inning game 1 rout while Carter went 4 innings in game 2 and Cason Gray came in to wrap it up.

Rhineland rides a 4 game win streak into a Tuesday night double header with Kirkwood at Hermann City Park. Wednesday night features  an AAA contest against New Haven at Rhineland at 6:00 followed by a A game against Eureka at 8:00. The AAA team will travel to Hannibal for a double header on Saturday and it’s back home Sunday for 2 against Ballwin at Rhineland.
