Rev. Mildred F. Slack

Mildred F. Slack (Millie) was born in Hermann, Missouri on August 8, 1941, to James Edgar and Augusta Julia (Rabenau) Slack, Millie attended Gasconade and Hermann schools earning her Masters of Divinity, from Lexington Theological Seminary.
Ordained in 1968 in the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) she also held ministerial standing in the United Church of Christ and the Presbyterian Church, U.S.A. In 1972, Millie became Director (then Executive Director) of the Five Church Association, an ecumenical urban ministry in St. Louis near South Side, which eventually became Isaiah 58 Ministries.
In 2006, Millie retired as Executive Director of Isaiah 58, yet continued to serve her Church and Community. She served as The Scottish St. Andrew’s Society of Greater St. Louis’ Chaplain until her death.
Millie loved cats, loved to travel, and was a St. Louis Cardinals all-weather fan. In 2014 she was awarded Superfan of the Year by the St. Louis Sports Hall of Fame. She also sang in the Liederkranz German Club.
Millie was preceded in death by her parents, and her brother, George W. Slack.
She leaves a nephew, James A. Slack (Karen), two nieces, Melody J Goller, and Robin Graham Jacobi (Don); seven great nieces and nephews; Katie Magrath, Garett Conreux (Denver, CO), Adam (Kim) Slack, Elijah Slack, Seth Slack, Monica Slack, and Imrie Goller (Overland Park, KS), and 9 great, great-nieces and nephews; Maja Cabaravdic, Preston Cabaravdic, Emillie Magrath, Georgia Magrath Sadie Slack, Kyree Slack, Julian Slack, Liam Slack, and Kenzie Slack; Dearest friend, Raymond and many close cousins and friends that she loved dearly.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, Jan 18th at Compton Heights Christian Church (2149 S. Grand Blvd, 63104) at 11 AM. Burial in St. Louis will take place at a later date.
