Kenneth Karl Kottwitz

Kenneth “Kenny” Karl Kottwitz, 71, of Owensville, Mo., passed away Thurs, July 17, 2025, at Mercy Hospital in Washington, Mo.
Kenneth was born July 6, 1954, to Waldo and Hilda (Niebruegge) Kottwitz in Washington. He was united in marriage to Debra Kurrelmeyer on April 26, 1975, at St. James UCC in Charlotte.
When he was young, he began working as a carpenter. Later, he became a rural mail carrier and retired after many years. He was confirmed at Zion St. Paul’s Church at Bay on March 19, 1967. He was a member of St. James Evangelical Church in Charlotte.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Waldo and Hilda Kottwitz; his daughter, Amber Christine Kottwitz; brother, John Waldo Kottwitz; brother-in-law, Dennis Kurrelmeyer; and parents-in-law, Ray and Helen (Mutz) Kurrelmeyer.
He is survived by his wife, Debra Kottwitz of the home; son, Kurtis Lee Kottwitz and wife Erin of Bay; sister, Jeanette Thomas and husband Ed of Owensville; brothers, Robert “Bob” Kottwitz and wife Dianne of Hermann, Wayne Kottwitz and wife Denise of Owensville; brothers-in-law, Dale Kurrelmeyer and wife Lynn of Rosebud, and Doug Kurrelmeyer of Rosebud; sisters-in-law, Brenda Kurrelmeyer of Owensville and Mary Beth Fricke of Hermann; and grandchildren, Korbyn and Eben Kottwitz.
Visitation was Sunday, July 20, at Gottenstroeter Chapel in Owensville. Funeral services were held Mon., July 21, at St. James Evangelical Church, Charlotte, with Pastor Bill Savering officiating. Burial will be in St. Paul’s Cemetery in Bay.
Memorials may be given to St. James Evangelical Church, Charlotte, or St. Paul’s Cemetery.
