Brushing Up for 2025 Plein Air Event
The charming landscapes of Hermann will come alive on canvases starting on Sunday, June 8, and continuing through Saturday, June 14. The Hermann Arts Council brings its annual plein air painting event, “Paint Hermann.” This year’s event has a fresh perspective with new activities designed to engage artists of all abilities and celebrate the beauty of the Missouri River Valley in the Hermann area.

73rd Maifest Attracts Crowds And Vendors
Hermann was alive with the sights and sounds of spring this past weekend, as it celebrated its annual Maifest. The traditional German festival, which marks the arrival of spring and honors the town's German heritage, drew large crowds from across the state.

Hermann High School Bids Farewell to the Class of 2025 in Emotional Ceremony
The Gasconade County R1 Commencement ceremony for the Hermann High School Class of 2025 was filled with gratitude, reflection, and excitement for the future. Held on Thursday, May 15th, the event celebrated the four-year journey of Hermann’s graduating seniors while also acknowledging the teachers, families, and community members who supported them along the way.

Fresh from Touch of Hope's successful purse auction on Wednesday, TOH's founder, Julie McCollum, turned around and sent out over 200 personal care and hygiene kits to St. Louis tornado victims.

"Let's Make A Deal"
City of Hermann Mayor Bruce Cox stepped in to break a tie on proposed increases to electric rates after the Board of Aldermen had a divided vote at their meeting on Monday, May 12, 2025. Mayor Cox acknowledged that prior to the meeting, “everyone was pretty much agreed on a 7.5 percent increase across the board.” He then introduced an alternate proposal, stating that he was approached by some businessmen over the weekend who recommended changing to a tiered increase starting with ten percent.

Bavarian Hills Flooding Soaks Lower Shops and Library
The green ServPro trucks were busy this past week cleaning the Library and the Hermann Hospital Clinic along with the offices within the Library building. Scenic Regional Library, Director, Steve Campbell said the Hermann branch Library would be closed for most likely a month and that the employees were all sent temporarily to other branches, and the gallery exhibit of Missouri Masters closed before the end of the month as scheduled.

Kit Bond, Missouri Statesman, Passes Away
Christopher Samuel Bond, a distinguished figure in Missouri politics, passed away on May 13, 2025, in St. Louis at the age of 86.
