This heat is out of control! Our air has been running nonstop for days; I am so sure Ameren is happy about that. Children will be out and about now that summer school is over, please watch out for children on their bicycles and walking.

Mayor Fed Up with Board Disunity; Calls out Alderman Grannemann
Mayor Bruce Cox did something unusual at the City of Hermann’s Board of Aldermen (BOA) meeting on Monday, June 23, 2025. Normally a man of few words, Mayor Cox used several minutes of his report time to respond to a statement made in a May, 2025 BOA meeting by Ward 1 Alderman Delores Grannemann, in which she accused the city of gross mismanagement of the town’s electrical system and recommended that it be sold.

Rhineland's Field of Dreams
Rhineland Field is situated in the midst of farmers' fields and has the distinct feel from the movie "Field of Dreams" that you could walk out past the outfield and encounter the ghosts of generations of past baseball players who played here. It is a time capsule of simpler, magical times that can be appreciated in the present.

Vistas and victories, Plein Air Judging and Awards
The 3rd annual Hermann Plein Air event concluded on Saturday with a public showing and sale of paintings from the event. Dozens of paintings were displayed on easels and table tops lining the spacious Festhalle.

The Hermann Chamber of Commerce conducted their June meeting despite not having a quorum. The committee heads in attendance reported on ongoing chamber projects:

Former Trailer Park to Become 30 Unit New Housing
Originally known as the town garbage dump and then a trailer park, it is now slated to become a 30-unit housing development. Jim Holland has sold a section of the property to be developed by ELS.

Secret Gardens of Hermann: A City & Country Tour
The locations of the 8 City Tour Addresses and the 3 Country Gardens was kept secret until this past weekend. Dozens of garden tourists were pleased with the inspiration they found on the town and country gardens.

Getting Socialble At Ebenezer UCC Ice Cream Social
The Ebenezer Stone Church near Hermann, MO, held their June Ice Cream Social this past Sunday. The ice cream social took place from 11 am to 3 pm at the church, located at 6162 Stone Church Road north of Gerald, MO.

Brushing Up for 2025 Plein Air Event
The charming landscapes of Hermann will come alive on canvases starting on Sunday, June 8, and continuing through Saturday, June 14. The Hermann Arts Council brings its annual plein air painting event, “Paint Hermann.” This year’s event has a fresh perspective with new activities designed to engage artists of all abilities and celebrate the beauty of the Missouri River Valley in the Hermann area.
