Last Wednesday afternoon, two new memorial bricks were installed in Veterans Park, honoring the service of Brother Walter Rode (1911–2006) and Oscar Rode (b. 1924), both of whom served in World War II.

73rd Maifest Attracts Crowds And Vendors
Hermann was alive with the sights and sounds of spring this past weekend, as it celebrated its annual Maifest. The traditional German festival, which marks the arrival of spring and honors the town's German heritage, drew large crowds from across the state.

Bavarian Hills Flooding Soaks Lower Shops and Library
The green ServPro trucks were busy this past week cleaning the Library and the Hermann Hospital Clinic along with the offices within the Library building. Scenic Regional Library, Director, Steve Campbell said the Hermann branch Library would be closed for most likely a month and that the employees were all sent temporarily to other branches, and the gallery exhibit of Missouri Masters closed before the end of the month as scheduled.
